The May meeting will be held on Saturday, May 14 at 12:30 PM with social time at 12 noon. Note this is a change (30 minutes earlier) from our normal start required to accommodate our speaker. We are pleased to host one of San Diego’s premier Democratic leaders, Speaker Emeritus Toni Atkins, former Speaker of the California State Assembly. Toni has had a long career in politics, serving two terms on the San Diego City Council followed by three terms in the State Assembly. She has long fought for causes that help those most in need, including championing the state’s first Earned Income Tax Credit and helping block University of CA tuition increases. She continues to be a leading voice for affordable housing and the homeless, and champions important causes for women, the LGBT community and veterans. Toni will share her insights on the current state of California politics viewed through her unique perspective of her last two years as the Assembly Speaker.
