The San Marcos Democratic Club held its first ever virtual (i.e., online) meeting in April using the Zoom application. The dangerous and predictable nature of the coronavirus has most everyone in quarantine most of the time, and gatherings of more than ten people are specfically prohibited by both government edict and common sense.
After a one month delay, Jess Durfee gave an informative presentation on how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the political perspective in America and how it may impact the upcoming election. Jess is a member of the Democratic National Committee, chair of its Western Region Caucus, and a former chair of the San Diego County Democratic Party. He also has a long history of political activism regarding LGBTQ issues and public education, and his frequent presentations are popular and well received.
