California has a long history of ballot measures intiated by the legislature or by business and citizen groups through popular demand, and every election features many of them. It can often be a confusing process as political ads rarely tell the whole story of each.
As is our custom, we asked Palomar College history professor Seena Trigas to review all the measures with us during our October meeting. Her talk provided important information and enabled attendees to understand what they were being asked to vote for.
SMDC president Heather Roberts reviewed the process for completing the mail ballot to ensure completeness and accuracy, and several candidates addressed the attendees to appeal for last minute assistance with their campaigns.
