The guest speaker at our January meeting was Will Rodriguez-Kennedy, Chair of the San Diego Democratic Party. Will summarized the county party’s response to the recent election, which saw an unprecedented number of Democrats elected to local offices. Significant victories included Terra Lawson-Remer and Nora Vargas to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, giving Democrats a majority on that body for the first time ever, and Todd Gloria as Mayor of San Diego. Eight of the nine members of the San Diego City Council are now Democrats. The election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to lead us was of course a major reason to celebrate.
