THE FOUNDATION FOR SENIOR WELLBEING (FFSW) is a local non-profit organization that has resources and programs for seniors and their families living in North San Diego County. It is located right here in San Marcos at 131 Richmar Avenue, San Marcos, CA 92069.
The Information Resource Center (IRC) is a comprehensive center for North County seniors, senior caregivers, and families dedicated to improving seniors' quality of life. Open from 9 am to 1 pm each Monday through Friday, the IRC provides links to available resources in the areas of housing, home repair, transportation, food insecurity, emergency assistance, medical and mental health issues, legal issues, and more.
FFWE is starting a new program - THE FRIENDSHIP TREE - which connects volunteers with seniors the old fashion way – through a phone call! Studies show that friendship enhances our quality of life and wellbeing. Weekly phone calls allow participants to share life experiences and reminisce, and hopefully create some new friendships along the way. The main purpose of the program is to connect with seniors and let them know someone cares about them and will contact them on a regular basis. The program will also offer access to community resources to those seniors by connecting them to FFWE's Information Resource Center.
If you are interested in being a part of the Friendship Tree either by making calls or receive a weekly phone call, please contact the Foundation for Senior Wellbeing toll free at 844-654-INFO (4636) or email: fswinforesourcecenter@gmail.com
