During this primary season it’s important to know who is running and what they stand for. You should have received your mail-in ballot last week. If you did not receive one, go to sdvote.com. Multiple candidates always wish to speak to our club and this year is no exception with so many vying for a spot in our June and November elections.

In April and May, the club heard candidates running for State Assembly District 76 (our new district), Senate District 30, Congressional District 50 (our realigned district), San Diego County Sheriff, San Diego County Assessor, Superior Court Judges in seats 35 and 36, San Marcos Mayor, and San Marcos City Council District 2. Every candidate who attended had time to address the audience and answer three questions.

In the end the club voted to endorse (° Nov. General election):

• Joseph Rocha, Jr. – SD 40
• Brian Maienschein – AD76
• SD County Sheriff – David Myers
• SD County Assessor – Barbara Bry °
• SD County Supervisor – Dr. Tiffany Boyd-Hodgson °
• Superior Court Judicial Seat 36 – Peter Singer
• San Marcos Mayor – Randy Walton °
• San Marcos City Council District 2 – Jay Petrek °

The club voted to rate the two candidates for Superior Court Judicial Seat 35 as “qualified” Michael Flemming and Rebecca Kanter.
