We Are San Marcos Democratic Club!

  • electing Democratic candidates to office in the local, state and national arena.
  • fostering Democratic ideals by stimulating active interest in the Democratic Party.

  • Meetings:
    San Marcos Dems hold hybrid meetings on the second Saturday of each month, from 1-2:30 pm at Double Peak School,
    111 San Elijo Rd. and on Zoom. Doors open at 12:30 pm for all to socialize, eat and browse great informational table displays.

  • Committees:
    San Marcos Dems has very active committees that meet outside our monthly meetings. Some are very hands on and some are more active in the background. We hope you’ll find one to join in.
    • Community ActionKathy Steel, Chair
      Meets monthly in-person. Involved in food collection and distribution; community cleanup; school supplies and needs; San Marcos Spring and Fall Festivals; environmental activism; community garden.  ALWAYS looking for new people and new ideas.
    • Diversity/Equity/InclusionChris Armstrong, contact
      Meets quarterly.  They have evolved beyond BLM and covers all diversity, equity and inclusion areas.  They have discussions as well as action events.  There is a side-shoot Book Club as well.  
    • Political ActionDr. Tiffany Boyd-Hodgson, Chair
      Meets monthly. Covers elections and endorsement, field support for candidates, legislation, lobbying, local government connection, voter registrations, calling, writing, texting for local and national elections and events, and GOTEAM (Grassroots Organization).
    • FundraisingCarol Gendel, Chair
      Yes, every group has one of these. Always looking for new ideas! Just finished the Betty Ball and Fran Thomas celebration!

      The out-front face to our members and visitors. Handle meeting sign-ins and name badges, emails to new members, reminders for renewing members, and more.
    • CommunicationsBarbara Sulier, contact
      Handles all matter of things for San Marcos Dems, from managing the Zoom meeting, to preparing, writing/finding article and publishing the Newsletter, to creating, managing, and updating the website, Facebook and Instagram. Well – everything regarding communicating with members and the community.
